Patient artwork featured in Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund’s 2015 Holiday Cards

For the second year in a row, Dana-Farber patient Bernard Manning has submitted a personally designed card to be featured in Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund’s 2015 Holiday Collection presented by Amica Mutual Insurance. His artwork is one of 13 holiday cards designed by local artists and photographers.
Bernard’s card features a penguin caught up in the holiday spirit. Set outside in the midst of a snowfall, the penguin sports a red winter hat and displays a candy cane pole with a sign on top that says “North Pole.”
“I wanted to design something that makes people smile and embodies the spirit of the holidays. The penguins were such a hit last year that I knew I wanted to continue drawing them,” explains Bernard. “Contributing to Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund’s Holiday Collection is a way for me to share my passion for art and give back to Dana-Farber for all that they have done for me.”
Bernard’s history with Dana-Farber began at age 18, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent two years of chemotherapy treatment at Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. Now 29, Bernard lives in Roslindale, Mass., where he enjoys drawing in his art studio.
Each year, Bernard joins Dana-Farber volunteers at Dana-Farber’s Yawkey Center for Cancer Care to help sell cards and gifts from the collection. Last year was the first year Bernard submitted his own artwork to be featured in the collection.
In addition to the cards, the Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund’s 2015 Holiday Collection includes products perfect for personal and corporate gifts. Items include ornaments, candles, gift baskets, chocolates, and an exclusive ALEX AND ANI® Gingerbread bangle. All proceeds from online purchases support adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
