Our amazing community and COVID-19
Like you, Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund are closely monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The health of our patients and our staff remain our first priority through these unprecedented and unsettling circumstances—and is at the heart of every decision we are making today and every day.
Dana-Farber is continuing to do everything it can to ensure that our patients and families are kept as safe as possible from transmission of the virus. Cancer patients can be at higher risk, so we need to be especially vigilant in reducing the potential for exposure to COVID-19 in this critical time. We also want to limit the exposure to and further spread of illnesses, including COVID-19, among our dedicated community of donors and supporters.
To that end, we are postponing or making other adjustments to any Dana-Farber or Jimmy Fund event until the outbreak is under control.
As you well know, you cannot postpone a cancer diagnosis — cancer doesn’t take a break even during difficult times. We are so very grateful for everyone’s continued involvement and support of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund’s lifesaving mission.
During this time of uncertainty, we are heartened by how many in our community have reached out and asked how to help. We very much need your help now more than ever, as we know eradicating cancer cannot be put on hold. There are many ways you can further our mission:
- Give: Make a gift to our Emergency Response Fund to ensure we can continue our exceptional patient care in these unbelievable circumstances.
- Donate blood or platelets: There is a nationwide shortage of blood products, which are vital to patients at Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. If you are healthy and eligible, please contact the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center to make a donation.
We encourage you to also visit the Dana-Farber COVID-19 webpage for ways to protect yourself from illness and links to key websites for more information.
Together, our dedication to conquering cancer is unwavering. Thank you for supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund—your involvement is so very appreciated.
